The night before the competition, the Sturgeon Electric California / IBEW Local 47 team took part in the NSUJL's annual Climbing for Lost Linemen ceremony. One by one, participants climbed to hang and light lanterns engraved with the names of lineworkers the trade has lost over the past year. It's a reminder that this work comes with risks few outside the trade will ever understand. Before the first event of the weekend, the team stood alongside lineworkers from across the country to remember those who were lost and honor the sacrifices they made.
