What makes HVI's button ups and polos different from other lineman apparel?
Every HVI button up and polo is designed specifically for people in the high voltage trade, not adapted from a generic workwear template. The patterns hide real trade equipment (transmission towers, padmount transformers, circuit breakers, distribution poles) so someone outside the industry sees a good looking shirt and someone inside it sees their own world. We spent over a year testing fabrics, fits and details before selling the first one, and we've sold 25,000+ since.
Are these shirts made for wearing on the job?
No. HVI button ups and polos are off the clock apparel, not FR rated or work site clothing. If you need something for the job itself, check out the HVI x Benchmark FR collection.
What's hidden in the patterns?
Real high voltage equipment: transmission towers, padmount transformers, circuit breakers, distribution poles, bucket trucks, substations, sometimes helicopters, depending on the design. Some designs put it right up front. Others bury it in a busier print, like the Hawaiian style shirts, where it's hidden in the leaves and most people just see a good looking print.
How do HVI button ups and polos fit?
Button ups run slimmer and are built to stretch, so size up if you want a looser fit. Polos run relaxed. Check the individual product page for each style since fit and stretch can shift a little depending on the fabric.
What are they made of?
Lightweight, breathable, stretch fabric built to move, not stiff workwear cotton. We spent over a year testing materials before the first release, and the exact blend varies slightly by style depending on what that design needed.
How often do new designs come out?
New button ups and polos drop weekly alongside the rest of the HVI catalog, mixed in with limited restocks of past favorites. Popular sizes and limited runs sell out fast and don't always come back, so don't sit on one you like for three days.
What if a shirt doesn't fit right?
Eligible button ups and polos can be returned or exchanged within 30 days if they're unworn and unwashed. A handful of limited or final sale items are excluded, so check the product page before you order.
Is there a discount for first time buyers?
Yes. New customers get 10% off their first order for signing up for email or SMS. Orders over $200 (US only) ship free, and orders over $300 qualify for a free gift.
Who are these button ups and polos actually built for?
High voltage clothing built for the people who do the work: linemen, substation techs, cable splicers, relay techs, operators and the other crafts that keep the grid running. It's lineman apparel built from nearly two decades inside the trade, not a generic blue collar template with a tower slapped on it.
Can people outside the trade wear these too?
Sure. Every design is built to look good on its own first, so the trade details are a bonus most outsiders won't even catch. Family, friends and coworkers wear them too. They just won't clock the equipment hiding in the pattern the way someone from the trade will.
